Martin Sheridan is probably best known for his double basses. A bassist of professional caliber, Sheridan early on considered basses his mission. "So many shops didn't even want to carry basses or work on basses", said Sheridan. "As bassists we often have a hard time just finding someone who wants them in their shop, so I decided that basses were my calling in life."
Over the years Sheridan has made basses after models by Panormo, Carcassi and Testore. "Sometimes I think that the model is more important for sound output in a bass than it's actual size," said Sheridan. The most important consideration is ease of play and production of sound, and you seem to be able to get that with more than one bass design".
Owners of Sheridan basses include: Rodney Whittaker, Jack Budrow, Andy Monefeldt and Nami Akamatsu. Harrison March has recently purchased a Sheridan Workshop Carcassi model bass.
